It's a very tough question, I think. A lot of people will say "one family member" right away, but is their life more important than three other lives? Are you willing to put your needs above those of others in such a situation? What would you do? And no, you cannot save all of them.
Thanks for your input.

No, no, no... don't get me wrong, everyone. I would save the one family member, too. I was just mentioning that there is not one obvious answer.

It would be a knee-jerk reaction to save your family member first (for most people) over strangers. As they say: blood is thicker than water.

Absolutely the family member. No, my family member is not more important in the absolute than three people, but he/she is more important to me, and I'm the rescuer. You are possibly suggesting a mother woud let her child burn to death to save three strangers. Be real. We have selfish instincts.

Yes, I would say one family member, I'm sorry but if it was between you and your friends and my Grams who has always been there for me, well start praying, because your gonna need it, lol, but hopefully I will never have to make that choice.

That is a hard question. I have kids so I would say I would save my family. OR one of them.... Really hard to say.

well there are other people who could save them. like firefighters. it's their job. they would try to save them. any normal person should not try to save someone from a fire. they're putting themselves in danger.
i'd be kind of one of those instinct spur of the moment things though.
