Actually, most states are "employment at will" states, which means that an employer CAN fire you for any reason or for no reason, as long as the reason isn't one of the categories that is covered by the equal opportunity laws, such as race, religion, gender, or several others.

They cannot fire you for no reason. If they are an equal opportunity employer then they are obliged to give you a reason for termination. I will strongly advise you to read up on the link provided to put yourself on a more level playing field when confronting your Boss & HR

equal opp act says that they cannot hire or fire you based on gender, race, religion, age, sexual preference, yada yada yada. by the way, your boss HAS to give you a valid reason, he can't just fire you for no reason.

C'mon, they have to give a reason. Have you been counseled and told you are doing something wrong?
EEOA just means they hire people without regard to race, religion, sex, national origin, etc., etc.
