Played the Xbox version, which is basically the same as the PS2 version.
Rent it first...to most it will probably seem incredibly annoying and tedious. I played for about 4 hours and didn't even get to preseason. And then I've also heard that there's problems with the gameplay, such as there are a ridiculous amount of INTs thrown per game.
Anyway, the safe thing to do is rent it. If you like it, great. If not, its what, $5-$10 bucks down the drain? Better than buying it and not liking it...

Hello,
If you are looking for a free download of NFL Head Coach you can check here: http://bitly.com/Y2SFmv
it's a perfectly working link, no scam!
NFL Head Coach is an excellent software game that gives the players a very realistic scenario of the American football events.
It's surely the leader game of its type.

I'd try avoiding it personally. Your best bet is to buy it. I actually have the PC demo. I still want to rent it on ps2 to check it out. Go to Easports website. They should still have a pc demo available. It will give you a pretty good overall idea of how the game works. Hope this helps.

ive played the PS2... personally i love the game! i think its a great game. if u like to desigin plays...and call plays...and watch ur players excute them (and they dont always excute them perfectly which if fun becuase its more realistic) and u have total control of a franchise... the best part if the draft in the 1st year...and will make or break ur team... i started with the jets and traded to get the top 5 picks of the draft where i selceted aj hawk, matt lienart, micheal huff, veron davis, and reggie bush... i won the super bowl in my 1 year...they all turn out to b studs
