I think people should be able to smoke ANYWHERE OUTSIDE, I think it is crazy to say that a person can't smoke on the outside of a building anywhere. It is a FREE COUNTRY, and the people that choose to smoke should have the right to smoke outside if they like, this country has a lot more problems to worry about than people smoking in their own private cars, on their property, and they government should not allow these big business people that probably some of them smoke their selves, be able to make these kind of rules in these big businesses. It is a persons choice to smoke or not we're all adults and we know whats is bad for us we don't need somebody else telling us where we can or can't do something. And for the people that complain about second hand smoke, walk around people that are smoking,(we don't complain about the STRONG PERFUME their wearing), or complain about having to sit beside someone that smells as if they don't know what a bar of soap is! I want to see one of the Big Bosses that smokes have to go across the road to another parking lot because him or her is wanting a smoke, and it be raining, see how THEY like that!!

Respecting other people's right may be the reason why this No Smoking in Public Places" policy has been imposed in many places worldwide.

Health authorities believe that passive smoke coming from active smokers when inhaled by non-smokers may be very detrimental to their health. So, in order to protect the general public from this passive smoke, the authorities impose such no-smoking policy.

Articles about smoking always say that smoking is bad to one's health more so the passive smoke to non-smokers. This may be the humanitarian side and cause that moved the authorities to safeguard their people.

But because they also respect each one's right to do what he wants to do, they only ban smoking in public. So, people who smoke can still freely smoke but only in designated places such as their homes.

Well if some of the smokers took into consideration the others that do not smoke and smoked in such a way it did not affect the air non-smokers breath then maybe there would be no problem.
Think about it this way; yes it is a free country. but what if the action of others interfer with others then what?

Ever heard of passive smoking? Why should people have to inhale second hand smoke.
How about the right to have a meal, or drink without getting exposed to smoke?

I am a non smoker but I gotta say, it sucks that there is no smoking in bars now. Everyone has to leave the bar to go out and smoke and who is stuck watching the table? Yeah. That's right, us non-smokers :)

I'm sorry I disagree with you. I have asthma and smoke makes it hard for me to breathe. Smokers think they have the right to blow smoke anywhere they please. They don't have consideration for others. If it's a free country, why can't we have unpoluted air to breathe, so we don't have to pull out our inhalers just to get a breath of fresh air?

Your smoke is ok if it never leaves your lungs, and does't stink up my life, I have the right to breath too.
