It's not how profane the lyrics are, it's about the message and who it's being told by. If it's a positive message, it's not going to be taken seriously, because the person "rapping" obviously hasn't had that troubling enough of life experiences yet that they know what the hell is going on.

Yes, this is a generalized answer, but you asked a generalized question. People have their own reasons for listening to the music they listen to, and the reason why is going to vary depending on the person.

how can it be positive when its got profanity in it .Some people are used to profanity so maybe they would still hear the positive side and that would be good for them .If thats the type of people that need to hear a positive message hopefully it works.Myself I think music is a choice but i prefer not to hear or play profanity. Will Smith doesnt and look at the crowd of kids he reached!

I'm a true music lover. Love all kinds on music. I do not go and search music that has none or this or more of that. I go for the tune, beat, overall flow of a song. That is in terms of listening. So, yes if I like the beat of the song and the song I will listen and buy it. Yes.

Buying is a different thing. I do not buy a Cd now unless that person can sing i do not mean in the studio but on a stage. Before i used to just buy whatever.

Why ought to a song could hotel to profanity to challenge an excellent message. Songs that use profane language immediately get lumped right into a unique classification and the message for all intents is lost.

No - it sucks. It's simplistic and derivative. And it's certainly not a race thing with me. Most of my record collection is old soul and jazz. Most of the people that made that music hate rap too!

As with all music, What I look for personally is originality. The message or content take second chair to that.
