The default settings for Windows XP are designed to run best for a computer using a dial up connection for internet access. I have use a program called TCP Optimizer to tweak the windows settings to get the most out of my connection. You only need to run it once and the setting changes should should a substantial increase. The seeting changes on my computer changed my comcast download times from 3.7 Mbs to 5.3 MBs. not bad.

you cant get a software to increase your internet speed, but you can download a better browser with better security and stability.

one good one is Mozilla Firefox-- download it at www.firefox.com
you need to keep your internet file folder clean too and that can speed up your computer which inturn speeds up your internet browser

by the way if you use internet explorer you definately need Firfox.....

I know your struggling with dial up, and i was too. Just to let you know, i am not using Verizon DSL for a year, and its cheap ($15)

Either way, there is not way to speed up your connection if your computer is healty. For instance, dont run a lot fo proccess (CTRL+ALT+DEL)

The only thing accelerators offer are disabling of images, or making them lower quality. I dont like that
