The same sites can be viewd on my best friend's computer. I tried changing the screen resolution and that did not work. I don't have any kind of filter of any kind. It's getting really frustrating to view those websites on other computers instead of my whole. Please help, anyone.

first of all, how old is your machine? if you're running win 98 or earlier you're gonna have problems dowloading some of the newer websites with flash or quicktime.(those apps HAVE TO BE CURRENT, or your resolution is gonna be ucky. and slow) furthermore, if you have an older machine you probably don't have the RAM necessary to hold the info needed for those fancy slick pages to load. and your audio and video cards won't be able to process everything at the speed at which it was produced, also resulting in lousy viewing quality and/or sound.
second, how fast is your modem? your modem speed determines how fast your computer receives the info for the websites and posts it onto your screen. a slow modem, (less than 40bps per second) produces lousy resolution also

I'm running an older machine myself and there are some sites it's just too much time and trouble to try and check out.

The reason why someone else's pc can view a particular site is because some websites use certain tools to make their site appear fancier than others and that may require the user or client, such as you, requiring certain software or plugins to be installed onto your pc to be able to see the full feature of the website. It is possible your friend have these plugins or software installed on his machine and allows it to be viewed on his pc. Another reason could be that you have a firewall running on your pc and some website can not be displayed on your pc is because of the configuration or setting of your firewall. These are just some reasons. I'm sure others will provide you with othre possiblities.

What sites? you may have to ask this question again with the sites, or add them to the details. Many times, if your connection is not fast enought to load the page within a sertain time, the browser thinks that you dont have a connection or something and puts up the Page Cant Be Displayed page

Your browser might be too old or you don't have the latest plug-ins for the different programs e.g. Flash, Shockwave, RealMedia.

Make sure the above are current.
