Alasdair M is exactly right. Board length has NOTHING to do with how tall you are. A board knows a few things about its rider. How much they weigh, how big their feet are, how aggressive they are and what type of riding they do. It has absolutely no idea how tall you are. If you were short and heavy or very tall and thin you would'nt want a board that came to your nose, would you?

Well hieght wise between your chin and nose should be good as for what the other girl said about it being longer for speed I don't know many boarders that board for speed I mean don't get me wrong going fast is fun but it wont vary to much in your speed if your begining I would try and make sure the board is freestyle so that you can decide how you want to ride and assuming your a beginer I would try and buy as cheap as board as you can incase you don't like it. Your weight and shoe size can matter too Me I'm a bigger guy so I need a wider board than normal not to mention the fact that I take a size 14 boot so the width helps a lot with preventing your toes form digging into the snow. Hope this helps

Contrary to popular opinion, the length of a snowboard has very little to do with height and everything to do with weight.

Think about it - what does a snowboard do? It distributes your weight across the snow.

A simple internet search - or your local store - will provide plenty of guidance on the appropriate length of board. There's really no subsitute for trying out different board sto see which you like best.

The shop where you buy it will be able to determine that. I have no idea what your dimensions are or what type of riding you're looking to do so I really can't pinpoint. If the shop doesn't seem to know what they're talking about and are just looking to sell you whaever it is they got, then it's time to go someplace else. Trust me, you don't want to spend hundreds on a package that sucks because you didn't know, or just didn't shop around. Oh, and screw that up to your chip BS, it worked when the boards looked like Sweedish Fish, but with the new tech out there now and the products more diversified to meet the exact type of riding you want to do, you'll want to have a pro assist you.

Stand the board up straight or have someone else do this and if the board reaches your chin than it's the right size. Thats about where you want it to be. I hope this helped and good luck my friend!

if you are a new snowboarder probably right below your nose to ensure control.
if you are more advanced get a longer board you'll go faster but are harder to control if you have never been on a board before.

The end of the board when standing up, should be about between your chin and nose.

the top should be between your chin and nose, but if you plan on continuing growing, a shorter one would be better so you can keep using it longer.
