Chaos isn't as much fun as you would think. It is interesting to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there.

You should explain your definition of "live like animals" more fully. For now, I shall assume that you mean, without government, going back to the basic survival and natural ways of animal life. And the answer is that we can, and some people do, but I prefer technology, health care, government, clothing, art, and sufficient shelter and food. This of course does get quite complicated, as humans are complicated beings, but i prefer having that "complication" because it is a sign of higher intellectual ability, and without the intellect I have my life would so boring, and I wouldn't have as much power of decision, choice, and luxury that I have now. (clarify: not as in I'm rich, in more basic matters of the words) I cherish my intelligence, knowledge itself, and society. People, because we are above basic animal ways, have the ability to make ourselves safe; we make governments and we have the power to change the governments, or flee them in most cases. We also have rights and venues of complaints, and finer things...that's why I don't WANT to live like animals.

As a matter of historical fact, philosophers have tried it. They lived in ancient Greece and they were called 'cynics'.
They were so-called because the Greek word 'kynikos' means 'doglike' and people criticized the cynics for living like dogs. Actually their philosophy of life was to live 'according to nature', so they wore no clothes except if it got cold, took shelter and food wherever they found it, behaved no differently in public than they did in private.
The most famous cynic was Diogenes. He was so notorious that when Alexander the Great came to Greece he visited Diogenes who was living in an old wash-tub. When Alexander asked him if there was anything he could do for him Diogenes asked him to get out of his sunlight.

A lot of humans already do that. The people incarcerated are forced to live that way, as well. We human beings were given a higher learning ability than most other species for a reason - though I don't know yet what that reason is.

We can, but the thought of killing another guy in order to make it with a girl is a little frightening. Also, you'd have to hunt for your own food, and there is usually more risk involved in that than there is with mating fights.
And look at monkeys. Honestly, I don't wanna swing from trees all day having my friends throw their own feces at me. Seriously, thats just wrong.

Because evelution has givin us the greatest gift of all, imagination...we as humans can imagine things bettr and strive to reach what we picture in our head, it is also our instinct to learn and to figure out why things do what they do. when you wach a baby thats what they do. i think imagination gives us the ability to change the environment and ask what would happen if this were difrent, we have the option not to act on pure instinct. i think that is why.

Drinking water out of the gutters, rutting with every female around, getting into territorial disputes (oh, we do that anyway)
