I think that everyone is just wired their own way. I dont get why/how anyone could swing but some poeple are just okay with it. As long as both people in the relationship are okay with it, i guess it is just a matter of different strokes for different folk.s

While I'm not a swinger myself, I would only consider it cheating if done without the partner's approval. If both partners approve, that's their business. Maybe some people are easily diverted by others they aren't married to. If they can agree with their spouse that they would both like to have sex with other people while remaining truthful & loyal to each other, I think that's not cheating & could actually help a marriage that might have ended up with someone cheating if they didn't talk about it & agree on the alternate lifestyle. Everyone's viewpoint is different -but I view that as being a lot better than being dishonest & sneaking sex with someone else behind the spouse's back.

Well, I'm not a swinger. I don't particularly approve of the swinger lifestyle and I don't think it's a positive, healthy way to have a relationship. I don't believe I've ever met anyone who is a swinger.
That said, I don't think we should decide how other people deal with their love life. If a man and women both decide (with no pressure from the other) decide the swinging lifestyle is for them, if both of them are happy, then it certainly doesn't bother me. People can write their own wedding vows and maybe their vows didn't include a promise to remain sexually faithful and maybe they have decided this is the kind of relationship they want.

Swinging does not allow you to cheat. The definition of cheaters is sneaking around with out the others knowledge. Swinging is a OPEN sexual relationship the partner knows what is going on. Most are very stable and happy couples that tend to have free spirits that don’t rely on western civilization or religion to give them morals.

I think it is/was a fad. It was cool in the 70's when sex, love and rock n roll were in style. Now it's probably for people who are bored in their marriage, I don't think it's a healthy choice for a marriage, but if that's what someone is into I won't get in their way.

No. They just love themselves more and want to justify their unfaithfulness by provoking unfaithfulness in their partner.

I met a married copule who were swingers, (lived next to them). They had it work for them, stayed married and raised kids, and were successful. At the time, (25 years ago) it did not seem strange.

most say they do it 'cause they're bored, or it adds "spice" to their sex lives... I think the second part of your question is your answer, to give a cover of civility to infidelity.
