A Lazy Susan is a Table Top or Counter Top Device that looks like a small round table. Approx. 12in. in diameter...some are larger. It is on a small caster which allows it to turn. Much like a piano stool. The purpose, you place your condiments or service arrangements on it and when one person wants something, you can turn it and easily grab what you would like instead of reaching.

Generally, a lazy susan is a round center piece on a table that spins, about 1/4-1/3 the size of a round table usually. it is where the dishes or condiments are placed and each person on the table is self-served from it by spinning it to reach for the course or item the person desires (after he or she sees that everyone else is done on the item within their reach). It can also apply to a corner base cabinet in a kitchen set up which is also called "easy reach". I would rather call it "smart susan" than lazy susan!!!

lazy Susan is a rotating tray placed on top of a table to aid in moving food on a large table or counter tops. They come in many sizes and shapes, but are usually circular. They may be made of glass, wood, or plastic. They are sometimes found in Chinese restaurants with a large table.
Thomas Jefferson is often attributed as the inventor of the lazy Susan in the 1700s. The term "lazy Susan" made its first written appearance in a Vanity Fair advertisement for a "Revolving Server or Lazy Susan" in 1917. Prior to that time they were called dumbwaiters.

It is a spinning turntable type thing that you might place in the middle of your table with napkins, salt, pepper, sugar bowl, etc. When someone says pass the salt just spin the lazy susan.

A round tray that sits on ball bearings that allows it to go around in a circle. Many people put them in the middle of their tables so that everyone can reach the salt, pepper, sugar, etc. with just a slight spin of the tray. Rubbermaid sells plastic ones that you can use in your cupboards and refrigerator to make it easier to reach items.

A LazySusan is something you will see especially in a Chinese Restaurant with the big round tables.
It's so helpful when you have a big party then that way you won't be really touching the dishes.

Round, turns, and you can put spices, babyfood, nail polish, virtually anything small on it.
It is very cheap... like 2.00 or less.

I upgraded to a nicer wood one, w/ a glass removeable piece in the middle.. to put on the table for serving things like toppings for baked potatoes, or tacos.. so when guest are over,,it is easier.
