Take it to your bank and let them check it out for you. If it's a scam, they can alert the proper authorities. Good luck.

They have these scams aired on the news all the time. Most are from other countries claiming you won a lottery somewhere else. Then they ask you to cash a check they send (They normally clear initially until the bank goes to collect and realizes it's from a fake account, then you have to pay the whole amount back plus all kinds of fees assessed by the bank). Then they will tell you to send them a check back to cover the taxes on the winnings, which if it's a legitimate, you would never have to pay them back the taxes, it would be taken out of the initial prize. Why would they be sending you that money to cover your taxes? Doesn't make sense, contact the authorities so they can investigate where this scam is coming from.

It's definitely a scam. They're called lottery scams of fishing scams. The look for people to believe the scam, cash the check and forward thier part of the taxes, meanwhile the entire time the check isn't real. A lot of times it's not realized by the banker that the check isn't real until it has cleared a customers account. In this instance the customer is still responsible for recovering the money and bringing the account to good standing.

If it's too good to be true, then it is. Did you ever buy an Alliance lotto ticket? Is Alliance a legit manager of lotto? Hate to say it but I believe someone is making a sucker out of you. Somewhere along this transaction I bet they will ask you for a couple hundred dollars administrative fee. While at it, beware of a few other ripoffs particularly those involving inheritance from some princess in Africa. No such thing as free lunch.

Take it to the bank and see if it is real. It is probably a scam. If you didn't enter the Lotto, you can't win it.
