Check with a used car lot to find out who they use for that kind of repair. There are people who travel around to used car lots that do work just like that to refurb used cars. Depending on your seat material, I would guess $100 or less. Fixing it yourself is not really an option. Those repair kits leave a lot to be desired.

Check local salvage yards for a used seat, can usually pick one up for 40-50 bucks. In some cases you can simply replace the seat portion and not have to replace the frame and back rest.

There are many different products out there from $5 to $55 for what you want to do, however it's better to have done professionally, which will of course cost more....Best solution/prevention? Stop smoking in your car.
