I would only buy a car I could pay cash for. Otherwise keep fixing your cool classic car and save as much as possible for a USED car.
Do not ever buy a new car... they drop like a rock in value. When you buy a car that is 2 or so years old with low mileage it is a much better financial decision.
Good Luck

Thats a good car you are talking about. You can buy that. But make sure that you make the engine checked through someone professional before you buy one. Also, try to use some trusted dealer before you buy that car. You can check orlando used car market. That'd be good.

I like what previous answer says, but I could add a few pointers...
When you have an old car that needs high maintenance, you have to ask youself if the car is worth fixing.
I own two cars now, lock stock and barrel...cash.
My 1990 Ford Crown Victoria I've owned for seven years and gave me safe and dependable service.
I spent roughly $70.00 a month for maintaining it. I added up all the repair bills...including batteries and new tires.
Try spending that much for leasing a new car.
So, after spending that much, what do I have now?
I still have the same dependable car I had for seven years, nothing has changed and it looks real sharp too.
I love this car so much, that I just spent $2,000.00 to buy the same thing, different color, year younger 1991.
They are both sharp and dependable cars that were built to last.
Can you or I say the same for your Toyota wagon?
Know the old car you want, and then when it needs repairs, always think you are a step ahead because you are saving several hundred bucks a month that can go into a good investment/savings plan instead of a piece of junk newer car built to drop dead on the last lease payment day.
What am I doing with two cars that look the same?
One I use for weekends, one I use during the week.
I hope I gave you good advice here, because I feel it's the best advice anybody can give.
Know the car before you decide to keep it for a long time.
Only some cars are worth keeping, the rest are crap.

Yes, that's common trap - we spend too much money on the old car and then can not sell it. Guess what, no matter how much money you spent on it, it still worth close to nothing, because nobody will buy it anyway, and it still remains an old car that will need more and more repairs. It's definitely very good idea to get newer car. I'd advise to visit some used car dealer and have a look at some cars - there are lots of newer Toyotas that are good. Sit inside, test drive few of them - this will help you to decide.
You already lost money on its repair, you won't get them back, if you keep it you'll loose even more. Good luck!

If this car is already half of your age, or your age and then some. Shoot it, burn it give it a viking funeral, and go get a newer car, on that hopefully is american, and with lower miles, and maybe, just maybe a few features that still work.
