It's just a tradition, which actually started in Europe. The prisoner doesn't HAVE to have a last meal, only if he wants it (yes, HE, most condemned criminals are MEN - and most of our prison population are MEN - is that sexist?).
It reminds me of when Clinton was governor of Arkansas. There was a retarded guy on death row, whom Clinton refused to pardon. This guy was so out of it, when he had his last meal he saved his dessert - he told the guards that he would eat it after he got back from the execution...
Love, Jack

He had to tell them certain things, if u remember, it wasn't about the food, but it was like a goodbye...it was to discuss things... Read the bible. It annoys me when people come on here and ask ignorant, sarcastic questions and make themselves look stupid and ignorant when they don't know what they are talking about... just let people live and believe what they want to believe! Why is it up to you to be prejudiced and insult people who don't believe the same thing you believe? That's what causes the hate and discrimination in this world... You could have asked this question, but left the mean details you added out of it.

Not sure , but I thought it was related to Jesus' death. Something about the last meal of the condemned, or possibly His last supper.

If I was about to die I would want something really good to eat. The only problem would be is that I would probably have no appetite because of my fear of my impending doom.
