Hi all, do u think it's possible to set up the wireless network in the following condition:-

2 houses in the apartment, but one is in the 8th floor and the other in the 9th floor. The distance vertical distance is about 4-5 houses.

Do you think that it's possible to set-off wireless network in such distance? There are a lot of obstacles like walls, others houses television etc.

Which wireless router do you recommend? The cheapest I think should be Prolink, but I don't know whether it's good or not. Others good brand such as D-Link, Linksys...but I think it will be expensive,

Kindly advise.

Thank you.

Start experimenting. A decent wireless router should work for you. Make sure the get the most current wireless technology. If it doesn't work, your allowed to take it back for a refund and try something else.

if you want to go though all those obstacles with a router which bearly reaches the next room, then dont do it at all. You will need a good router, a little more expensive, which may do the job. In addition, you must also consider the speed. I tried it at my house. I did not have any obstacles. My internet barely worked, it is true that it could have been my equipment but it was still like less than 50 feet from the 1st to the 2nd floor.

For the most part I would recomend not opting for the Cheap Wireless routers...I have had the best luck with Linksys or D-Link. The extra $'s are worth all the hair pulling, and Linksys has Easy Setup. You may have to use high-gain antennas or even directional antennas to span the distance but maybe not. The directional antennas offer a little bit more security as they are directional Point to Point. Look for directional antennas at Newegg.com and even the routers for that matter...they have good prices.
