I had prairie dogs. I was gonna breed them thinking I'd make money off them and the whole nine yards. I was excited about this new adventure. Well then one day they got out of the cage while we were out at the grocery store. We came home and there was a hole straight through my new couch. The hole was huge, the prairie dog made a burrow right through it.

So the next day I put an ad in the paper to sell these things. My phone was ringing off the hook, seems like prairie dogs are in demand or something. Little do people know how destructive they could be. They also bite, hard! Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Northern Walking Stick Insects

It wasn't weird to me, but I had a spiny mouse. They require almost the same care as a normal mouse or rat, but they are about twice the size of a normal mouse. They have an adorable almost fox-like face and snout, but large ears like a bat. They also have small "spines" instead of fur on their backs, but they aren't too hard or pointy so you don't have to worry about injury.

When they curl up they almost look like little spiky kiwi fruit (with tails of course, lol) :D They are very friendly and social animals and are supposed to be kept in same-sex groups, however the one I bought was all alone at the store and although I was willing to get him a friend- there weren't any more until a year later and it was too late to introduce them then.

A praying mantis when I was younger, he was cool.

Right now my weirdest is probably my poison dart frog- in the wild, they are the single most poisonous animal on earth. (Poisonous as in have to be ingested or somehow enter the bloodstream, not venemous as in they bite.)

Of course my gecko eats his own skin and licks his eyeballs, I guess that's gotta count for something on the weirdness scale.

A Walking Stick insect with one of his 'pointers' missing. I named it 'Stick Boy'. He was only my pet for 2 days while we were camping, but while he was around he would 'help' me read the newspaper and watched while I solved the crossword puzzles! I miss Stick Boy - gentle and devoted was he.

I think my chameleon. She has funny eyes that look in all directions, and her colors change all the time, and her feet look like oven mitts, but I find her very cute and loveable. I have pic of her on my profile at yahoo 360
