256 MB is a nice size and should hold a bit as long as the file size isn't huge. It will really depend on file size as to how many things you can store on it.

Songs? depends on the format you use and the quality its saved in. For example:
Typical MP3 song with CD quality (4mb each) = 64 songs,
MP3 with lower audio quality (2mb each) = 126 songs
Ogg format (1mb each) = 256 songs (you need an "Ogg player" for this format)
Photos? again depends on the quality you save in:
Typical cellphone cam picture, low res (10kb each) = 25,600 pics
Medium res pic (350kb each) = 730 pics
megapixel cam (1.0mb each) = 256 pics
2 megapixel cam (2.0mb each) = 125 pics
Videos? For each 10 second clip:
AVI format, large (1.5mb each) = 170 clips
AVI small (500kb each) = 512 clips
mp4 format, large (220kb each) = 1,160 clips
mp4 small (100kb each) = 2,560 clips
3gp format, medium (100kb each) = 2,560 clips
3gp format, small (90kb each) = 2,800 clips
