I know the humour was obvious, and a little low-brow, but it really was a great show--mainly because of John Ritter, the late actor who played Jack in the series. The others were good too, but Ritter's comic genius gave the show something extra that kept it from being run of the mill.

John Ritter as Jack Tripper was hilarious. I especially loved Norman fell as Mr Roper. The guy had some of the best facial expressions...pure comic genius. I thought Larry, Chrissy and Janet were just as funny. The show went down hill for a while, especially when Terry was introduced, but Mr Furely more than made up for it.

I am with you 100%!!! It was a hilarious show with good, clean fun and simply entertaining. You are so right that John Ritter was a comic genius. Caught his biography on A&E awhile ago, and it told us what I believe what most of us already knew -- he was an all round nice guy and a pure joy to be around. It is so tragic that he is gone. John Ritter - gone but not forgotten...miss you! Thanks for a great question, 'tiko'.

John Ritter will always be a classic to me. My favorite episode is when he was a chef at a Japanese Restaurant and the way he was trying to cook on the Hibachi grill. Priceless!

It's a classic and I always stop to watch re-runs. It was good clean fun. Even the sexual innuendo was done tastefully. The only thing I would have liked to see was Jack and Janet getting together in the end.

You answered you own question. It had obvious humor and was low brow. It short, it was lame. For real humor, watch Seinfeld re-runs or go way back to The HoneyMooners. No one was funnier than Art Carney as Norton.

Slapstick meets the 70's. I liked it, but the opening theme was pretty lame though.

75% with you. No sitcom before or since has ever surpassed All In the Family (not just my opinion).
