They just announced yesterday, that aol was going to give away services like free email, etc (just like Google and Yahoo) for all Broadband subscribers.
You don't actually get free DSL or Cable internet.....you just get the AOL services if you have DSL or Cable Internet.

They were getting killed in the ISP market, so they are going to be relying more on web-based advertising for revenue.
They announced the layoff of 25% of the company today.

Read it more carefully.....looks legit.....but i am surprised they changed it so fast!

I read in the paper tonight that AOL isn't going to charge anymore for their connection and their software, security center no matter what DSL/cable you have. But they're not giving the DSL/cable for free. Wish they would.

It looks legit, and this is probably them trying to get back in good with the american public. I know I recently saw on the news where a guy spent crazy amounts of time on the phone trying to turn his aol off. This to me sounds kinda like yahoo...you have to have a connection, but you can use their "pages" for free. does that make sense? I hope it helps.
