In the 70's, when the movie "Roots" was on national television and blacks were more concious of slavery, they were getting into less trouble and not disrespecting themselves as much as they do now.

WE SHOULD START BACK DWELLING ON SLAVERY BECAUSE IT'S NOT AN EXCUSE FOR FAILURE. THAT'S BULLSHIT

I think if blacks remember their past then they would stick together more. If they knew what it was really like I believe a lot of them would have more respect for one another. A movie like ROOTS will show them they need to stick together instead of bringing each other down. Because back then we stuck together and most respected one another. If you don't remember you past no matter how bad it was, then you have just forgot your history.

For blacks it is no why to remember your history without the mistreatment of others. It could be 1965 or 1765 for blacks during these days would they have anything nice to say about the life in this land?

Blacks are taught not to dwell on slavery because others(whites) don't want to here about it. And for whites to tell you not to mention it they need a reason and their reason is because if you don't it would only fail you. Untrue, remember it because that all of your known history. Whites took your real history away back in the day. Now they are trying to make you forget your known history and it's impossible to say anything about your history at anytime without including the mistreatment of whites.

As The Black Hebrew points out, ignorance is a huge problem. It's easy to make people hysteric when they don't know all the facts. I haven't personally spoken to anyone in the african-american community about it, but I would imagine some people look at the way they act as a rebellion against what happened in history. It must bring a sense of pride to them. I mean just like you have white punks you have black gangsters. And while you can point out that a majority of 'blacks' seem to have a worse attitude than before, there's also a lot of people who aren't black who's attitudes have gotten worse. It's all around the country not just within one racial group.

I think also it has to do a lot with many 'black' people at first thinking they should just be thankful for what they had now and how the fight for equality was starting to be won. But many feel and in some places I can agree, that progress to complete that movement to equality is about where it was 30 to 40 years ago. It's picking back up again. But there's a lot of places where racism is still a big problem. And now racism is swinging to both sides. 'Blacks' against 'blacks', 'whites' against 'whites', 'whites' against 'blacks' and 'blacks against 'whites'.

The real problem is so many people still want to stereotype all of the people within a race. Which is incredibly stupid. All 'black' people don't come from Africa. Some come from other places too such as South America, Jamaica and so many other places. Then you have people who think all 'whites' are the same. Again, whites come from several different continents.

What can be done about it? People within their own racial communities need to step up and say hey, this isn't right. We can't be ignorant anymore. You can't be superiror if you don't even know what you're talking about. Once people learn facts and not opinions, I think America will be a lot better off. I think we can do away with 'Black History Month' because really as Morgan Freeman has said, black history should be taught as part of American history. Unfortunately much of their history at this point in time deals with slavery and oppression. But also introductions to positive points outside of those two subjects concerning 'black history' should be taught as well.

There's so much other **** I could say, but it's up to each individual person. Be smart, be kind and if all else fails just walk away. If they are so dumb that they won't accept truth over hysteria, then **** 'em.

I think that if slavery were to come back, blacks would reflect more and change their ways, gosh...I'm black and I'm not crazy. This is a good question. And I agree, we should start dwelling back

Its their crutch. The reason they didn't succeed was because they're black. Most will throw that crutch away and do good but others hold tight to that crutch.
