It is not a file. It is a program. Find Control Panel, go to Add/Remove Programs, find it listed there and click on Remove.

I might mention also that you should try to learn some computer terms. Delete is not the same as Uninstall. A file is not a whole program. And so on. Learning terms and some basic things about the stuff on your computer will in the end save you grief, often big time.

The biggest mistake made is the confusion between delete and uninstall. If you "delete" a program, you are only throwing out parts of it and this could screw up your computer. Uninstall removes the whole program from your computer as if it had never been there. It's like this: you want to get rid of the kitchen sink. If you just take a crowbar and rip it out and toss it, you got problems. Holes in the wall, water shooting out everywhere....But if you shut off the water, unhook the pipes and the drain, unbolt the sink from the wall supports, lift out the sink, then you have a nice neat arrangement that a new sink can go in. The former is delete, the latter is uninstall.

Right click the icon and press Delete. It will confirm that you want to, and inform you that it will only delete it from the Desktop, and not from the computer. It will then give you a little link to go to Add/Remove Programs...find it on the list, and click Delete. Just to be sure, once you are done, run a search [Start Menu: Search: All Files and Folders] on the computer for "AOL EXPLORER"....If anything comes up, Delete it.

Go to your control panel and then Add or Remove Programs... If that doesn't work you could always search you files for the files and folders....
