Try to introduce the baby to the bottle, little by little...give her full breastmilk first and then put a mix of breastmilk and formula, eventually weaning her off the breastmilk...it will take a lot of effort, depending on the age of the child, and you'll probably have to try a lot of different nipples until you find one the baby likes...

Until your body gets the clue that you aren't depleting your breast milk, it'll keep producing for a bit. You will become engorged and it will be uncomfortable. This is going to sound crazy, but it was passed on to me by the hospital staff for when I wanted to stop breastfeeding. Take cabbage leaves and put them in your bra cups. It is something about the vitamins/minerals in the cabbage that as they are absorbed into your body it helps stop milk production and reduce swelling. It sounds ridiculous, but I as well as friends I suggested to tried it and it really does work. It only took a few days. Just be sure you are ready to stop breastfeeding. Once you stop there is no going back. Try it! Trust me! This will help! Pass it on to others you know need the advice too.

DO NOT under any circumstances wean "cold turkey." This is hard on both mom and baby. It can lead to plugged ducts and painful mastitis for mom.

SLOWLY cut out one feeding at a time. About once feeding every 3-4 days as long as you are no longer feeling engorged.

Cabbage leaves can be used to help you be more comfortable if you do get engorged. Also, you can take hot showers and use cold compresses. Ibuprofen also helps.

See the link below for more information.

Also.....know that weaning isn't an "all or nothing" proposition. It may be possible to partially wean. (Say only nurse during the day, only nurse at night, only nurse for naps/bedtime.) Consider those options as well.

BTW......
The comment "once you stop there is no going back" isn't really true. A mother CAN relactate after weaning, but it isn't always easy.

I've nursed 6 children. You can stop cold turkey but that is more painful. Depending on how old your child is, either give them bottles of formula or sippy cup with formula if still under one years old. Start replacing a feeding a day this way for a few days , then the next few days do two feedings a day and so on until you are not nursing anymore and have replaced all of the feedings with bottle or sippy. If they are older than one already....they don't have a nutritional need for breast milk anymore or formula anyway so how you quit is up to you. You will just need to deal with the emotional side of it in that case.

If you want to stop breastfeeding call your doctor and they can give you pills to dry up your milk, very easy, and its a lot better then having to do everything else and worry about if your leaking. Should be very fast!!!! I f you don't go with the pills it could take a while, and you should try to give him a lil breast milk for a few more days to take him off of it!! Hope I helped. Take care.

first, you should make sure that the baby will take milk from other source like the bottle or a sippy cup. afterwards, just wear tight bras and tight shirts, anything as long it does not allow you breast to grow as it fills up with milk and dont express it. it'll eventually be absorbed back into you body but itll hurt like hell in the meantime. take some painkillers for the pain.

How old is your baby. If you can, keep going untill he/she is ready for solid food. You are doing your baby a HUGE favor by breastfeeding as long as possible. It is WAY better for him/her than formula.

If you do a search on breastfeeding or nursing you can find hundreds of articles on the benefits.

You seem a little old to still be breastfeeding...

Haha kidding.
Just... wean. Less and less, and more formula.

do you still want the baby to get breast milk if so just start pumping and buy playtex bottles made like your nipple so he or she won't starve because once their attached to the nipple it's hard to wing them even if you stop pumping also get those bottles the baby will get less gas bubbles in bottle

babies should get to choose when to wean. WHO organization says baby needs at least two years of human milk to develop properly.
