I always think it's interesting that straight people want to assume that THEY know, without any scientific research, better than gay people why they're gay. That having been said, first of all I think it doesn't matter. In the united states anyway, there's no sound reasoning for inequality for gay people as individuals and as couples. The reason is mostly just a red herring.
Next, I want to call you on the false dichotomy. People always love to say that it's either genetics, or else a choice. For one thing (which you didn't do) all biological factors aren't necessarily genetic. For another, even if it was purely environmental, that still doesn't mean it was a CHOICE. I think there's very few people, if any, who choose to be GLB. (Transgender, too, but you're not addressing that here so I won't either). Bread turns into toast well after it comes out of the oven, but that doesn't mean it can go back to being just bread. My personal theory which has utterly no scientific backing that I know of is that there's biological, psychological (cognitive), environmental, and societal factors involved in ALL people's sexual orientation.

If you ask most people that are gay, they would tell you that they were born that way. Being gay is much more difficult way to live life because of all the rejection of the straight world. You lose your identity, you become that gay guy or lesbian. It doesn't matter who you are and and what you do. So, that being said, why would anyone chose to have such a difficult life?

This is an old old question. Let me ask you this. How does someone know they are straigt. Is it because they are told thats what they should be and they believe it. Or do they just feal the attraction to the opposite sex. So to answer your question it is not a choice. Why would someon choose to be gay knowing that many people will want to do harm to them or even worse. I just dont understand why people dont understand it is not a choice. That is like saying if you had a choice to be living in a nice home with all that you need or be homless and not know where your next meal is comming from. What would you choose.

I dont think i was born any particular sexuality, however, i believe that we are raised and assumed to be heterosexual. I guess that's what is expected of us all... however, i decided to be homosexual. i feel happier being homosexual because it's who i want to be. And to be honest, being gay is by far a decision that has made me a stronger and better person. Putting up with everything weve dealt with and dealing with, it's made me a better person, and i've learned a lot about the world.

Why the heck do people have such a hard time accepting that each and every person on this planet is different? Why do they feel there has to be a reason or a cause? Why can't we all just be different and accept that?

I generally hate answering questions with questions, but would you choose to be something that you would know to cause you to discriminated against and hated by ignorant people?

Geesh this question has been asked sense 1899, when German researcher Magnus Hirschfeld said that people are born gay.

How come they can answer that question correctly in 1899 but not today?

I think it's a decision most of the time, but I do believe there are some born with imbalances and that might be the cause.

I believe that I was born gay but I chose to be out and open and accept it. So for me it is both, I could of CHOSEN to play it straight and be with guys, and get married and have babies but I wanted to be happy too, so I chose to follow my heart and be with girls and be out and be happy and now I have a wonderful girl that I have been with for almost 7 years now and we are planning our wedding and looking into adoption, so I guess I still get to get married and have babies only I am doing it with a girl and I get to be happy too...

A long time ago people said that homosexuality was a mental disease, it got proven (in 1986 I think?) that it isn't. But you are born with your sexuality.
