KISS got famous because of the makeup/theatrics then in the 80s took it off and made there music do the talking. only in the mid 90's did the re-unite with the all original members and put the costumes back on.

Yes, the make-up was there before they were famous! They didn't take it off until 1982 (I think - I know it was early 80's) with the release of their video for "Lick it Up!" That video was the first time the world saw them without the make-up. They just started wearing it again in recent years (I think to cover up Paul Stanley's horid results from his facelift! He was hot before he had that done!). Kiss kicks @ss! And Gene Simmons is HOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, KISS wore makeup BEFORE they were KISS... they started experimenting with makeup under the name Wicked Lester, before they took the name KISS

My uncle was a roadie for KISS back in the day. He used to play golf with Gene Simmons. They are all "normal" off stage.

Make-up first, then after many years of being famous they took it off. p.s KISS and Alice Cooper were two totally different bands.
