As a parent I watch my children and what they do on the internet, but I cant be sure that who the person on the other end is who they say they are, and I am looking for information on how to prevent my not only my children but the friends of my children from becoming victom of those who would cause them harm, children have a nack of tuning out the voice of one but taking to hart the voice of another, I am looking for another informative voice. I am not looking for advice or opinion but information

Ok, no chat room is safe from online predators, anyone can chat. Your kids will be safe if they know and understand their boundries online.

No chat room is safe, you must supervise and monitor your child's use of the internet.

You must set the rules for using the internet for chat and communicating with strangers:

1) never give any details about your name,
2) never give out phone number, address, email, age, or anything about your own family,
3) never arrange to meet someone, call them, or exchange letters or emails,
4) never tell anyone secrets, or let them know things about you,
5) always ask your parents if you are unsure about something.

Check that your child is following these rules, if there is a breach, then stop internet time for a while. Make sure that you know something about the system your child is using.

If you are suspicious about anyone who is interacting with your child, then report the details to the police. This is important because such offenders will continue to prey upon children until they are caught, and many innocent vicitims could be saved by your actions.
