If you're are bulimic and you are taking any medication you might as well stop it because any medication you take into your body will not have any effect as long as you keep doing that

you'll get worse, you might want to stop that at least until your medication time is over

It is disappointing that your dentist won't even see you until the infection has been settled with antibiotics. The first rule of any infection is to try and reduce or remove the source of the infection, and then use antibiotics as a supplementary measure. Would you take antibiotics for an infected splinter of wood? Sometimes in the case of an abscessed tooth it can be as simple as drilling an access hole to allow the infectious junk to come out of the tooth rather than into your face. Sometimes you just have to get broken teeth extracted despite infection in the area. Injections of LA into an infected area are not generally advisable or easy, but there are block injections for upper and lower teeth that can do it for you - maxillary block, PSA block, ... To rely only on antibiotics is poor dentistry and potentially dangerous. The fact that your eye is shut is of great concern. Antibiotics do not always work, and there is the risk of ending up in hospital on IV antibiotics and surgery. I would seek out another dentist ASAP.

I had an abcessed gum and the pain is horrible. You need to get rid of the infection first. Antibiotics did not work and I actually lost weight because I could not eat. At an herbal shop a lady told me about echinacia with goldenseal. Taking this did the trick and knocked the infection out in about four days. What you will probably have to do is make a paste of it and use it on the affected area. Also you can take this in the form of a tea. If you normally keep liquids down then this may help. Then you can get that thing pulled!
Good luck.

Purging while or after taking medications will simply make the medications ineffective.

If you allow the infection to continue you could become extremely ill. The infection can easily travel further into the body and infect areas that will require further treatment, even hospitalization.

See your dentist immediately as an Emergency patient if you have left this for more than 5 days already. If your face is numb, the infection could be affecting other teeth as well.

Good luck with this and make sure you get this taken care of to ensure you keep well...take care

Purging while taking the medication will keep some portion of the medication from getting into your blood stream and, thus, to the infection itself. This could make the original infection that much worse.

Did you know that if you take too little of an antibiotic (or too much) you can actually come down with a separate and more serious--and life-threatening--infection?

If you don't mind my saying, the bulemia in and of itself already creates some difficulties within your system. To risk further or additional infection could lead to disasterous results. Please consider abstaining from purging so that the medication can do it's job.

I know exactly how you feel. So, I can pretty much tell you from experience that the infection will just get worse if you purge. You need to go to the dentist and get the infection cut out, then wait a couple of days for it to heal. Then you can purge again. You can go like a couple of days without eating, and drink water. Thats what I ended up doing anyways. Good Luck.

I'm sorry I can't really help you out that much. =[

Your tooth infection was probaly caused by your bulimia. Bulimia also causes your teeth to rot.( The acid in your stomach does this) I would say purging with an infection would definetly make it worse. Best wishes to you.

If you puke while taking medication, it is likely that your body won't absorb the medication due to the fact that you will be THROWING IT UP.

Please, please grow half a brain and stop the barfing. It's probably what gave you that tooth infection to begin with. Do you think guys want to kiss skinny girls with pukey breath? I just hope you realize that it's better to be fat and a little less self confident then to have a rotten mouth and a sickly appearance.

I am not going to bug you about being bulimic, but if you want the meds to work you are going to have to take them as directed (probably with food) untill they are finished. At least give the meds 2.5 to 3 hours before expelling them.

Good luck and I hope you feel better.

If you throw up your medicine, you will wind up losing the effects, and the tooth infection you have now will get worse and worse until you require hospitalization. It will be the worst pain you ever felt in your life. Any sympathy attention it gets you will not be worth the agony. The infection will cause you to get a fever, which will cause you to have delirious nighmares. Believe me, it's not worth it.
