In a lot of cases, yes. It seems that their different views and actions compliment one another. An example would be a couple where one partner is a worry-wort, and the other is carefree - that would probably work.
In some extreme cases, no. For instance if a hard alcoholic or drug addict got together with a non user - it probably wouldn't last very long, unless the user really tried to quit because the relationship was important enough to him or her.

I believe that it is true. It seems to me that what you really look for in someone else is the something that you don't have yourself! And if you end up with someone who is like yourself in many ways, things either get pretty boring or conflict arises. It's like Ying and Yang... You have to have a balance and two opposites make it complete!

It depends on someones wants and needs. I fell in love with a white "Deadhead" ( a guy who loves the Grateful Dead band), and I'm a black hip-hop diva! I think it was because he was so different is what made him attractive. But the guy I was seeing after him was my "twin" and i liked him just as much. It can go either way. You can be in wonderful relationships with opposites and sames.

I think it IS real, but I don't think couples that are completley opposite will stay together forever.
There is something about someone who has everything you don't have that just makes you want to be around them, but ... but..
Idk. I am attracted to older gray haired lighter skinned guys with deep masculine voices. But hey, thats just me.

Depends if you mean physically or emotionally. Me and my husband are completely different physically (you can see our pic on my 360 page) but we are emotionally the same. What's on the outside does not matter, it's what's on the inside.

Definitely! My wife and I will discuss something and realize we have opposing views, the comment is always, "How in the hell did we get married?" Been married 19 years, very happily.
