Sounds like you have a dry trap. This is a condition that occurs when water in the drain trap gets siphoned out. Once the water is siphoned out sewer gases can enter the home. Replace the water by simply running water in the shower and allowing the trap to refill. This only requires no more than one quart of water.

you may need to have the trap replaced so the water that is inside the drain will serve as a barrier to prevent back flow of the nasty odor you have been smelling. Even though you are on 8th floor stench odors tends to flow upward. So replace either by you or a plumber. If the plumber option seems too expensive, another alternative would be to mix equal parts of household hydrogen peroxide and vinegar and pour down the drain let it soak for 30 minutes and then rinse with tap water every other day or until smell returns.

If after filling the trap with water it occurs again in a couple days or less there may be a leak in the trap allowing the water to run out or the vent stack may be blocked allowing the water to siphon out. If the shower is being used on a daily basis and this is occurring you need to have someone look at it.

Sounds like the P Trap might be dried up. Pour some water in the floor drain every couple days and you should not get anymore smell.

Yeah, just pour some water into the drain. About 2 pints should do it. The water evaporates and lets sewer gas into the room.

Your trap's dry. Run some water down the drain and also try adding some bleach to the water to take away the smell.

Try ouring bleach down the shower drain. Most odors are caused by bacteria. Bleach should kill the bacteria. Leave overnight so the bleach has time to work overnight. I pou bleach down my shower and sink drains weekly. If this doesn't work contact your building management as there may be some other kind of problem.
