Yes, I played the Flute and French Horn. This may sound dorky, but I really miss it. Not the uniforms or aching feet, but I miss the parades and the camaraderie we had with each other. That was the one thing in high school where popularity didn't matter.

I was in a marching band for most of High School. It was a lot of work though. After school practice for foot ball games and championships. The plus side of the practices is you get into the football games for free. You do get to meet a lot of good people you will have a whole new friendship ring.
We traveled and competed in festivals. Our marching band was chosen to march in the Rose Bowl parade one year. The memories are endless and will never be forgotten.

A marching band is a sporting group of instrumental musicians who generally perform outdoors, and who incorporate movement – usually some type of marching – with their musical performance. Instrumentation typically includes brass, woodwinds, and percussion instruments and the music usually incorporates a strong rhythmic component suitable for marching.

In addition to traditional parade performances, many bands also perform field shows at special events (often American football games) or at marching band competitions. Marching bands are generally categorized by function and by the style of field show (if any) they perform. Increasingly, Marching Bands are performing indoor concerts, in addition to any "Pep Band" duties, that implement many of the songs, traditions, and flair from outside performances.

Yeah, I joined my freshmen year in high school and I'm planning on continuing it for the other 3 years (this year I'm a sophomore)
Personally i think its great, partly because my school's band is awesome. Its pretty big, we usually march somewhere around 200-300 a year, depending on how many people we have..

I wish I was...most of my old high school friends were band geeks, hanging out with them and hearing all the stories makes me jeleous. Not only that, Im 24 now and just now learning how to play the piano. Its quite difficult because I have no other musical background.
