I don't think all of them do, but it depends on what kind of bands you're listening to. Most of todays bands are full of emotion, but sound exactly the same as every other band, but that's the way it always has been. Some bands I think are really good today are:
1. 30 Seconds to Mars: This band sounds really cool, and it has a great singer who sings all of his songs with raw emotion. Plus it's pretty interesting that the singer used to be an actor. Seriously, who gives up acting for music, besides Kevin Bacon, he's too old for a starring role anyways. That's reason enough to check him out.
2. Flyleaf: just awesome, the singer has an extremely beautiful voice, but she's using it to a raw, hardcore background, which is really cool.
3. Avenged Sevenfold: If you loved 80s metal, like Metallica, then this is the new band to check out. They got a pretty good singer, but their main attribute is their amazing guitar players.
4.The Smashup: a band I heard recently that reminds me of the days of hardcore punk. Their singer and his lyrics are really cool and the guitar will do the occasional solo, which is rare in most punk bands.
At the end of the day, you just have to look for the good bands. Think back to the 80s, there were millions of hair metal bands, but the only ones people today care about are Guns N' Roses, Van Halen, and Metallica. The same with every other generation of music, there are really only a few good bands that will outlive the time. But if you still miss old music, Tom Petty is coming out with a new album, and so is Bob Dylan, so quit complainin.

Depends on what bands you're referring too. I'm a child of the eighties and still love my hair bands; but my tastes have also evolved enough to love modern bands (My Chemical Romance). If you have a true love and appreciation for music, it grows and evolves with the times.

not all of todays bands, just the ones that get played on mtv and get played over and over on the radio. i think its stupid that people cant search for bands, they have to get told whats good and whats not by the media. people need to think for themselves. people need to choose what they like, rather than follow a trend and such.

Yep some do. Everybody's always saying how today's rappers aren't as good as they used to be but the same applies to rock music too. ♥
