My water broke around 8pm & I have had maybe 2 contractions. How much longer will it be before I am really feeling the contractions? Also, I keep having the urge to urinate & I know I am just pushing out more amniotic fluid every time I go, so should I try to hold it in for cushioning?

You should get off the computer and call your doctor immediately. Once your water breaks, they usually want you to head to the hospital. Labor usually begins soon after the water breaks, but not always. If labor does not begin on it's own, they may need to induce the labor since it can cause complications for your baby to be without the amniotic fluid for too long. Your "water" is coming out of your vagina and urine comes out of the urethra. You will not be able to hold your water in or push it out like you can with urine. Your water will continue to drip out and you may still experience another "rush" of water, so it would be wise to wear a pad on your way to the hospital or even put a disposable diaper or a thick towel under you to catch the wetness. Contractions present themselves in different ways to different women. Your urge to urinate may be your way of having contractions. Especially if you have a ways to drive to the hospital, I wouldn't wait to long to get on your way. Best wishes to you and your new little one.

What color was it when your water broke? If it was clear, you DO NOT have to fly off to the hospital like your pants are on fire. YES.....the water breaking DOES increase the chances of infection and put you "on the clock" to deliver. It means they want the baby out w/in 24 hours of when the water broke. BE CALM. Call your caregiver and tell him/her what is going on. Gather your stuff together because YES...you are EVENTUALLY going to the hospital. If you don't feel like the contractions are coming hard and fast and close together, you don't have to leave this instant. The longer you can stay at home, the better. The chances of infection are LESS at home as you've already been exposed to anything that is there. Just don't stick anything in your vagina. As long as the fluid was/is clear then you are just fine. Stay calm, call your caregiver and take it one moment at a time. If you have to pee, pee....but for heavens sake don't PUSH anything unless you want to have the baby in the toilet. You aren't feeling an URGE to push are you? If that's the case then yes, get someone to take you to the hospital!

I'm so happy for you! You've been waiting and waiting, haven't you (i've read your other stuff). Anyways, try to hold it until the midwife arrives (hopefully SOON!). Some women give birth very quickly with little to no contractions, and if you have any urge to push, you could pop baby out. If you have someone else there with you who can help if you deliver alone, then you don't need to be quite so catuious. If the midwife hasn't arrived by now, call her again and speak with her. Tell her to kick it in, too, in a polite way. Congratulations!

If your water breaks, regardless of how far apart or irregular your contractions are, you should call your ob or midwife and head on over to the hospital. I wouldn't try to push it out if I were you...this would be like trying to push out your baby before you were 10 cm dilated, and you could damage your cervix and your baby.

Amniotic fluid replenishes itself every 30 minutes, do don't worry about that...just call your doctor and go to the hospital.

When your water breaks it looks like a balloon popping within of you. You will definetly recognize! You might consider you are peeing particularly bizarre, however the popping feeling (does not harm) and the volume of water that comes out will make you notice what occurred. I do suggest that you've a few pads to be had if your water does holiday on account that you'll leak just a little fluid till you deliver start. As for pushing, do not. Get to the medical institution and allow them to let you know whilst to push. Pushing too early and you'll be able to tear your self. When you are pushing (it's going to come evidently) it does consider like you are going to poop. Usually you'll be able to have a contraction come on and you have got the 'urge' to push. It comes evidently and you'll be able to emerge as a professional by means of the 3rd contraction! If your little one is located proper it may take wherever from five mins to a few hours pushing.

Get your butt to a hospital or call your midwife. Infection can set in if you try to hold it in, but DO NOT PUSH, you may be closer than you think. (trust me I had 4, and never had "timeable" contractions with any of them). With the breaking of the fluid, you will start feeling contractions worsen, however, you never know your own pain threshold. that's why I'd head to a professional asap. GOOD LUCK!!!

Once your water has broken, it's showtime. There is no point in trying to hold anything back. Cushioning is no longer required. Contractions will increase in frequency and severity over a period of hours. Congratulations and good luck!

Firstly, if your water has broken, there is no protection against infection for the baby. You should be going to the hospital. Second, if you don't let it out in the toilet, it's gonna come out anyway and who knows where! Go to the hospital, and Good Luck!
