I dont think anyone should be judging this woman's situation. Perhaps, her daugher is seeking emancipation and she is trying to stop it. How dare any of you judge her question. Please check this out. I think your answer will be there. Good luck.

There is no way in Texas for a minor to be emancipated at the age of 15. Legally, it can be done for a 17 year old or, in some very specific conditions, for a 16 year old, but no younger.

This is covered in the Family Code, Chapter 31, which can be seen at the link below.

In Texas she is a minor until age 17. She can only be emancipated if she goes to court and requests emancipation. The judge will need to determine if there are grounds to grant emancipation. I'm not sure if you meant your question to sound like you do not want to be responsible and care for your daughter and grandchild, but it surely does. Even if she is emancipated you should still care for your daughter and grandchild. You gave birth to her and the grandchild is totally innocent. Mothers should stand by their children no matter how many mistakes they make and give their full support and love always.

Here you go. Read carefully - the father may be subject to statutory rape laws on top of everything else.

Texas

The age of consent in Texas is 17 {Texas Penal Code Section 21.11}. However , "...It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the actor...was not more than three years older than the victim and of the opposite sex...(and) did not use duress, force, or a threat against the victim at the time of the offense" and is not a registered sex offender {Section 21.11(b)}.

Section 21.12 further prohibits all sexual contact between an educator and student enrolled at the primary or secondary school where said educator works. No age is specified by the statute, and violations are a second degree felony.

15 years old is considered a minor and cannot be emancipated by delivering a baby. She needs more care than others. Thus, extend your hand to her in time of need.

She will be considered a minor anywhere in the USA. Your teen daughter is about to deliver a presumably illegitimate child and all you can worry about is her, uh, emancipation? You need serious counseling. No wonder the kid got knocked up! She has a fruitcake for a mother!

She will still be considered a minor but, in some states (maybe all of them, I don't know) she is considered emancipated in terms of decisions made about the baby. She is the child's parent, therefore as full legal rights to make those decisions.

She's 15 for gosh sakes. The pregnancy doesn't emancipate her. She's in your house, she lives by your rules. If the punk @ss that knocked her up gets in the way, have his @ss thrown in jail for stat rape.
She's a minor, and will be until she is 18.
To answer these questions from a local perspective, call the police dept., they will fill you in on state law.
