When you use the sea as a traffic-item, with some ship, is it than more dangerous than using a car on the high-way?

Sea travel by ship is a lot safer than with a car on a highway. More people are killed in a car over a 1 day period in the US than there are deaths on ships in a year. Ships are safer than cars, planes and trains; and even more people are killed walking on a sidewalk than on a ship.

No Sea and Plane travel are much safer than highway travel, by something like 25-1.
