Man, I started on 'em back in the 70's! Don't see too many in the shop anymore, maybe about 2 a year.
Last VW job was a valve job on a restored 68 convertible! A project in the works is a Mercedes kit car going on a 73 bug.
Don't know where you are, but there are still VW guys around. You just gotta look for us!

Look around for other VW owners and ask them who their mechanic is. When you find a good one, hang onto him/her!
If you happen to live in the lower mainland of Vancouver, B.C. (what are the odds?) Rudy and Peter Motors on Main and 2nd Avenue are the best and reasonable.

The guy with the 67 bug is right. I had one the motor kept going out. I do all my repairs myself.

I use to have a 67 VW bug, I can only suggest buy a manual or book , there pretty simple to work on. My bug broke down enough, so I really had no choice but to fix it myself.
