Given the huge number of stars in the universe, chances are that we are one of at least millions if not billions of intelligent civilizations. However, what if we are the only ones? To me that would be much much worse.

Thoughts?

Alone is scarier...

Well, we are not entirely alone in the universe because there will be another milkyway where there is other life existence, and we don't know the faintest idea how they looked like as we both guess it's appearance. It will be scary to meet the other life-form in our natural instinct, and let's hope they won't attack us. Maybe they won't, probably they are the ones who fly UFOs!

There is no big hit news about alien invasion so far in this century except the films, we didn't do anything wrong as we spectaculate and deduce what is their character. This phenomenon is still a mystery until 'there will be an answer in the future.'This is Mulder's quote from the series of 'The x-files'. This mysteries became a question that you did mentioned about.

Being alone is much scarier. But I don't think we are alone because the universe is incredibly vast. And I seriously think that there are humans just like us on other planets, not the alien stereotype of "little green things" that the media portrays.

I don't think theres a chance for us to be alone ,and yes it would be so scary but if there are more advanced civilizations i really don't think they will be friendly ,if they find a way to get down here they'll attack thats the problem with power its never used to do good at least in our case.

It would be much scarier if we were alone. Even if a planet was not 'exactly' like earth, the fantastic number of possible life forms is comforting.

Otherwise, we are left with that old Peggy Lee song, "Is that All there is?"

I would hope that there are lots of aliens in the universe. I hope that the aliens who could hurt us usually don't get off their planets to roam the universe because it is beyond the ability of harmful species to survive long enough to pass the cross-over point. That is the point where resources are managed and allotted to establish a viable off planet presence that becomes self sufficient. I hope harmful species are not capable of such an endeavor and I hope we are not one of them.

didn't some big wig say that even if there were intelligent life in the universe it would be at such a distance from us that we would never encounter it?
and why is it that humans don't like to think they are all alone in the universe?

well in some way it would depend on them aliens, I don't buy for a second the thinking that if they are advanced enough to come here they must be peaceful, sounds like alota BS to me.

but alone, ya that would also be creepy, I mean its kinda a wast of space isn't it.
