Why are the French always involved in hostage negotiations?

Its seems whenever people are on a highjacked plane, or are kidnapped the French are on their way to Damascus or Tehran to work things out.

The goal of hostage negotiations is to get the perpetrator to surrender. The French wrote the book on surrendering. They are world class experts on white flags also.

So to make it all true they need to interfere.

it outlines what the french are best at.... losing or letting someone else do their dirty work. the french are good with negotiations because they have tried so many times in the past to talk their way out of utter defeat and failed!
