If you are going by the modern Western reckoning of time the first day of fall is on the fall equinox. That is the day that there are twelve hours of light and twelve hours of darkness. It is also the day that the sun crosses the equator on its way south for the winter. This year the equinox is on the 23 of Sept. at approximately 12:03am. Eastern Standard Time.
However if you follow a much older way of reckoning time. Then the fall season has already begun. In times past fall was marked by the harvest. As a pagan I follow a calender that has the celebration of first harvest called Lughnasadh that marks the first day of fall on the 1st of August. The equinox then becomes mid-fall with winter starting on October 31.

Doesn't that depend on where you live? In TX we get fall weather around late Oct. Fall usually lasts until the 1 week in Jan. we get winter. Then it's straight into spring. We haven't owned winter coats in 10 years.

i don't understand "(the season)". Are you referring to the TV season or the 1 just after summer?

for fox, it starts on the last week of august. but for the other channels (the good ones) i think it will start the first or second week of september!
