If I saw someone wearing a tee shirt with a U.S. flag upside down would I assume they hate the U.S.? If I saw someone wearing a tee shirt that way I would tell them to get their behind out of American territory, they might think that they are doing right by acting that way but, if someone does not agree on the way the higher ups, and the president make decisions for us the American citizens, they should leave our country.

No. if they hate the us they would move. i might think they disagree with some of our current regimes policies but judging from poll date over 2/3 of americans are not satisfied with bushs performance. if anyone should be wearing an upside down flag tee shirt saying theyhate america it should be bush and his friends because they must have hated it to fcuk it up so badly

Totally the reverse.
An upside down flag is the international symbol of distress. I would think that shows concern for the country.
On the other hand, if they wore the Iraq flag upside down....

I would tend to think it's a symbol that the USA is in stressful times, but I'm not sure what the intent of the wearer is. Technically, the flag symbol should not be worn as clothing anyway.

Either that or they bought it at a 'seconds' store and it had been missprinted.
OR Maybe they are part of a circus act and normally they walk on thier hands.
OR maybe your glasses aren't working properly and you are seeing things upside down
What I am trying to say is I don't judge a book by its cover.

Or they are in danger and in need of help. (A flag flying up-side-down is the sign of distress, that the castle has been taken over.)
