I am thinking you mean the Black Robes, if you do they were the French Catholic Jesuit priests sent to Canada to open trade and military alliances with the native population, particularly with the Algonquins,the Ottawas, the Ojibway and Tobacco Hurons. This was back in the 1600s when England and France were fighting for control of North America
