Why can't they just move one to a question that they approve of? Does it make them feel better to belittle others? How many others agree with my questions?
I'm sure everyone has a reason for asking the question (with in reason), no one knows their set of circumstances so they really shouldn't judge right?

People may not think that the question that they are asking deserves people to judge or belittle them. I didn't think anyone of my questions would get those types of answers but they still did.

That is a very good question and I would like to answer it as truthfully as possible.
The older I get the more cynical I get - and also more indignant about irrelevance, ignorance, illiteracy, and just plain stupidity! Since it's not possible to walk up and slap them, this is the next best thing!
Grumpy old man.

Because sadly to say, they can be insulting all they want on here as long as they stay within the guidelines! No one likes it but that's the chance you take when you post here.
If it bothers you then try posting some other kind of questions that don't draw insults, or just plain ignore it because you just can't control how a person is going to react to a question.

Besides most people are anonymous so they feel even bolder in their attempts to be as insulting as possible. Just because they know they can get away with it, within reason of course.

Just don't be so sensitive! It's not like you know any of these people! Right? So go with the flow! Chin up! And keep those posts coming!

Oh get a life. Nobody is leaving you mean or insulting answers.

It's all in your tiny little imagination. Everyone on Yahoo Answers is very nice. (Except you...)

I don't know what your set of circumstances are, but I judge that you are not handling them very well at all. Perhaps you need counseling?

I hope that you can see that even though I did not like this question AT ALL I still managed to be polite to you. So come off all this "mean and insulting" crap. Take off the blinders and look reality in its face.

I sometimes leave mean or insulting comments because of the content of some of the questions. For instance the dumb blond jokes etc. (I'm a blond.), or referring to homeless people as dirty stinking, lazy idiots. (I've been homeless, but had none of these statistics) If the question is mean or insulting, that's the kind of answer they'll get from me. It's not that I don't understand the question, or their circumstances, but some of these people are asking questions that are mean and cruel, and they just think it's cute. It shows disrespect to mankind, and I'm not going to just sit back and take it. I don't know these people, so I can't confront them. Words are the only defense I have.

In my opinion, the main reason people take such a mean attitude is two-fold: #1: The are embarrassed by not knowing something or being able to respond intellegently, and #2: It may be a category on a topic that the respondant either feels is inappropriate or vulgar, or one that the person feels strongly about, either for or against the issue.

It appears that most rude and insulting answers are reactionary, emotional, and immature. It may also be a stab at a topic or concept that makes someone question something they don't like within themselves.

I do it sometimes, but I'm pretty sarcastic and usually only do it obviously fake questions or poorly worded questions.

I agree to a certain extent, by there are many questions on this board that start by insulting others. If you don't want impolite answers, then don't start the question by calling other people names or otherwise attacking them or their beliefs.

I think that sometimes people ask questions and the goal is to ruffle feathers. If you don't like the answers you know you are going to get, then don't ask the question.

No offense. That's just the way it is.

Because they think it's funny. These people are immature and retarded so ignore them. Only people who are socially and mentally challenged resort to insults. They just do not have the tools to express themselves in a rational and non-vitriolic manner. They need to be pitied because they are..pitiful.

I agree too! I bet that those who insult others do it just for their own enjoyment. They want to see other people mad, and so that gives them a sense of empowerment over others.
