do you pick it up with a paper towel and squeeze it, do you flush them, do you use a flyswatter, or something else? When it's a really big roach or spider, I get a cheap plastic bowl that I can throw away and trap them until someone else is brave enough to get them.

I generally use a paper towel and squeeze it or a shoe to smash it. In fact, just this morning I was in my bathroom getting ready for work and out of the corner of my eye I saw a bug crawl into my bed. It didn't last long. I just love the South and all its bugs. :)

My dog Jack (Lab) he is the spider, fly killer. If he sees one he watches it closely until he gets it. If Jack isn't around then I get a swatter, a paper towel for pickup and then I throw it in the garbage. Then I go ooooh and wash my hands even though they did not touch the bug/spider directly.

I do all the above and get it out of the house. We had a bat once and got it with a towel then threw it all out the window. Picked up towel the next day.

i'm the bug catcher here unless a cat gets to it first, and i use anything i can find. using a napkin or paper towel and crunching them up always gets a good reaction around here.
