I think it is a something that you see in truly great people. THat selfless kind of compassion that comes only through practicing it in your own life. i think people who cannot show compassion are missing something in their own life. it is a personality weakness, usually because of fear, hate or anger, which are weaknesses when uncontrolled.

It depends on the situation...
If you need to be firm... Like you need to discipline your child for a wrong done, it's a weakness to give in to compassion.
It's a strength when, you try to do the humane thing even when you are crazy with rage... Like, an enemy about to fall and you save him or something like that...
Oh well baloney!

People almost always act with a motive. Those who sacrifice something of themselves for another without any expectations of return are the truly compassionate.
