Ask him how he feels about playing Barbie... if he asks why... tell him he needs to learn so your daughter can have someone to play with.

When I worked at a department store, a couple came in and bought a baby bib that said "I love Grandpa" and wrapped it up and gave it to him as a Christmas gift. (I understand the timing for Christmas wouldn't work, but perhaps a "Happy August" present :) ) Make sure it's a PINK bib, so he gets that it's a girl. I know it's not particulary funny, but I thought it was cute.

if the new baby is due anywhere near his birthday (or Christmas) why not start by asking him what he wants for his birthday?

and if he says something like - a lawnmower (or anything else like that) just say 'WRONG guess again' until he gets it!

- Take a picture of a hamburger bun in the oven and let him figure it out!

- Have him pose for a picture and instead of saying "Say Cheese!" say, "Say, It's a GIRL!" then snap the picture of his reaction.
