U can go to stores like Johann's and pick up costume patterns that are pretty easy to make on a sewing machine. Or u could try a scarecrow, all u need is some hay and a long pole to go through the sleeves, put them in and old coat and pants and sew patches on to them. A vampire would be pretty simple u could make ur own cloak, a robot with cardboard boxes and spray paint, plus ur kids could help add on buttons and dials so it would be fun for them too.

A trash bag and a pair of insect antennae = a litterbug!
If the 11-year old is trick-or-treating separately with kids his/her own age, dress the kid all in white and put a big blue plus sign on his/her chest. Instead of "Trick or Treat!", the kid can now yell "You're Pregnant!" That should scare a few folks!

Trust me, I don't usually watch the show, but one day on Martha Stewart when she had on Bette Midler, she showed how to make a witch costume out of trash bags. I think it's on her website, or at least, she said it was back in October!

I went and bought a white sweatshirt and black stretch magic gloves and glued on cow patches of black on the sweatshirt and got fun foam and made the gloves into hooves. last but not least, I blew uo pink balloons and voila .....Udders. You can paint their faces and get a hooded sweatshirt and add ears too. Don't forget to paint their buckets silver like milk cans!

Check out Joann Fabrics store to see their patterns and get suggestions from their sales ladies to see what is quick and easy. Simplicity usually has easy patterns.
