Probably head gaskets, however, I have seen heads crack, warp, and even melt if they get hot enough. Hopefully it is only gaskets.....they can be fixed cheaply if you are mechanically inclined and have the tools. Good luck !

Not knowing what kind of vehicle you are driving you could possibly have a blown head gasket from the overheat but as to where you lost water I could not tell you with out looking at it. You may want to have it towed to a reputable repair facility that is well established. I stress the word towed. don't run the vehicle any more as more damage can result.

Possibly your car over heated because you have a big leak, which in turn you could have blown your engine. It's hard to say. Check your belt, maybe that busted and in turn is not running the water pump, which also drives the alternator and the engine.

More information needed much more!
example:
What does 'running funny' actually mean the car or engine? What make, model, year and engine type.

Anti-Freeze loss through a radiator or hose leak? See big green puddles? Engine exhaust smell funny? Interior smells?

You probably put the anti-freeze in the wrong place. That, or you just need to get a new car or a professional.
