Programming require mental skill, not physical. So, it does not matter if you are a guy or girl as long as you know what you are doing. I know quite a few female that are very good programmers. So, female can deffinitely do as well as men.

i am really sure there are some women who are capable of being a good programmer. though naturally, men are better, since men can divide things and chunk it to smaller pieces. This abilty is needed to be a software developer(my opinion). now i wont say that women dont have this ability, but from what i've read (CMIIW), women are better to see things as a whole.
of course there is always an exception on some cases.
and with nowadays technology, software developers are getting much help from many tools.

I have noticed a severe lack of females (especially attractive ones) in my programming classes, but those that do program tend to be really good, as they feel that they are in a male dominated area and either push themselves harder or are just really smart and have a strong interest in the subject.

I think it's a great way to stimulate more interest in work.
Will they do as well as males? ... I've known a few bright female programmers. I've known quite a few not-so-bright ones. Then again, I've known a lot fo not-so-bright male programmers to ... so they'll fit right in.

My aunt did quite well in the industry before retiring several years ago. She started as a key punch operator, and by the time she retired, she was one of the top "computer geeks" at NASA. She is also one of the designers of autoCAD.

I see no problem with that. I see men and women as equals, I have a friend who happens to be a lady that went to college for programming and design.

Just so long as I don't have to see them flying Starships, Star Trek lost all credibility w. that. I'm sure spacial awareness and parallel parking is no problem w. software.

What's to think about? They have to train for their job just like anyone else, male OR female has to know the stuff to do the job.
