not only is the baby very small still, but the uterus is too and it's not pressed up against your lower tummy where they were trying to find it. Don't freak out, you saw it on the sonogram which is AWESOME isnt' it? Usually they pick it up around 10-15 weeks.

With a stethoscope it's pretty difficult. Usually after 12 weeks you can hear it, but there's a lot that can get in the way and if the baby isn't positioned just right then it can be really hard to find. I've heard that at 20 weeks it's much easier, though can still be a little difficult, especially if the baby moves a lot.

Do you mean a Doppler. A stethoscope cannot really be used until VERY late in pregnancy. With the little doppler machine it can even be difficult to hear the baby's heart beat until 14-16 weeks.

Yes after 12 weeks you should be able to hear it with a stethoscope. But it just depends on how well your baby wants to cooperate!

I couldn't hear my baby's heartbeat until I was 20 weeks pregnant and she's now a healthy almost 8 month old baby. Don't worry :)

I didn't hear mine ever...but he's now a healthy, albeit obnoxious teenager (God Bless him!). Don't worry...that never helps.
