The Leafs SUCK and they ALWAYS will. They will NEVER win the cup again.

I am a big Peca fan.hated to see him leave the Isles, he is gritty and great on the PK..but he is notthe type of player to raise a team to a championship...he did play well in the playoffs this year, but it was Roloson that got them to the Finals, and what a showing by Markenan..

the Leafs are a few players short, they have fallen far behind Ottawa, and the Sabres..plus the Devils are always contenders with Broduer, I believe the second year w/o Stevens and Neidemeyer will be better for them as it was big losing both in the same year and yet they still made a good run, but it was about a month before the playoffs.

Unfortunately, my Islanders look as if they have made no good deals again this year..i was hoping they would trade yashin

Hilarious! The Make Beliefs? With Peca--one of the most overrated players in the NHL? Easy to win Selkes when Hasek is saving your bacon.

By "good" chance, you mean they'll choke for the fifth time in the semis since the '90s vs. a wimpier team?

This year? No...
In the next 5 years? No...
5-10 years? Yes...

The Leafs have been a very goaltending-dependant team for as long as I can remember. I think Raycroft is going to struggle early and the pressure from the TO media and fans will get to him. Although I think he'll adjust and play much better near the end of the season, the Leafs will be lucky to make the playoffs and if they do, they won't get past the 2nd round MAX.
Like I said, give it about 5 years before their young up and comers come into the league and start to flourish.

They will be lucky to make the playoffs. They play in the toughest division in the NHL. Buffalo will be better then last year Ottawa will be a little weaker but still very good and Montreal and Boston have gotten better so for them to make the playoffs would be a good year. I dont think they have a chance but who knows nobody expected Buff or the Canes to be any good but look what they did so who knows. Peca is not there savior though. He is good but not a huge impact player.

They'll have a tough time. The Sabres are tough, the Penguins are building a GREAT team, of course the Red Wings are unbelievable, there are so many great teams!!!!! The Sharks and the Avalanche have just as much of a chance-maybe. Toronto blows their trade deals...now they have 3 guys fighting to be starting goalie. Great team, but kinda thin. I hope they can. They're one of the Original Six and I love those old teams!!!! And the Leafs have a fantastic history.

(Sigh)

The Maple Leafs have a great chance of winning the Cup... if you are looking at a long enough time line! Perhaps maybe in the next century or so.

This coming season? Not gonna happen.

Lets just say, when hell freezes over.
Peca is good, but not good enough to carry the team, I think if they have any chance at all it will be because of Andrew raycroft

THEY HAVE NO CHANCE WHATS SO EVER PERIOD, YOU SHOULD CHEER FOR A NEW TEAM. A TEAM AND OWNER THAT WANTS TO BRING A CUP TO THE FANS AND NOT JUST TO MAKE MONEY FOR THEM SELF'S WHICH THE LEAFS OWNERS HAVE DONE FOR WELL OVER 30 YEARS.
