In the midst of such strife such as the middle east conflict, partisan slander, and human disinterest, why are so many internet users focusing their questions on seemingly wasteful material? Is it escapism? Disinterest? Give it a go, you crazy series of tubes.

I'm wagering escapism. Even the most informed person needs a diversion from all of the unpleasantness of the world. Do you really feel the need to wallow in all the miserable happenings of today's society? Not to mention, even tho I am truly enjoying this sight, if you hadn't noticed it is not exactly the most serious one on here. Sometimes I really take my time answering these questions, I truly do put some thought into my responses, yet other times I find some of the questions so amusing I need not spend ten seconds considering how to respond. All in all, it depends on ones state of mind when logging on.

No one wants to concern themselves with problems on a local, national or global platform.

Their problems and inquiries are much more important than that. It's because they're too self-centered to care about what goes on around them, most likely. Also, some people just don't want to deal with the world around them. Why? It doesn't affect them in a personal way. I'm sure that, if a building blew up where everyone knew someone who died, there'd be concern and interest... for a little bit.. then the same question will arise again...

This is an outlet for a variety of people. It appears most users consider it more a place to spend (waste even) time than a serious resource for unanswered questions.

It is rational self-interest. I can do nothing about the middle east; I can do quite a lot about my relationships and so on.

Best wishes and God bless.

It's fun. And disinterest. But that's just me.
